A dissertation project for MA Knitwear studies at Heriot Watt University: ‘Convertibles - Clothes that Kids Can Make’

The project consists of three modular garments which were explored through a focus group with a group of children and their parents, with the aim of investigating children’s interest in garments they create themselves and are then able to wear.

‘How is this stretchy?’

This and other curious conversations were generated with regards to yarns, the loops that form a knitted fabric and how a straight, ‘not-so-stretchy’ piece of ‘string’, can become stretchy simply through how it is manipulated.
